I’m sort of crying reading this because I’m hearing the same through-line amongst all of these incredible women; we all WANT friends, we all agree it is WORK; we are all willing to be intentional, show up and offer grace. Somehow just knowing I’m not alone means everything here.
❤️❤️ I considered editing down some of the similar themes- but that was what struck me too, and I’m glad I didn’t. It’s a universal joy AND struggle. Not sure I realized that till this week! ❤️❤️
This is one of the best things I’ve read in a while and it kinda made me want to cry! We all want friends! Really great advice and insight. One thing that factors in for me is the unrelenting, constant illness!!! With small kids, I feel like we’re constantly having to cancel plans because someone woke up with a fever. My one friendship tip is to schedule coffee/walk dates. Dinner with friends can be so hard to schedule but I’ve found it much easier to make time for a walk. We get to chat, caffeinate and get our steps in!
Oh yeah. Yep. I hadn’t thought about kid sickness— but it absolutely can take a huge toll! Ideally I get dinner with my BFF every month- but in reality, thanks to kids it’s more like 2-3 times a year 👎🫠
Finally had a moment to read this and it made me so emotional. These answers from these incredible women are so thoughtful and really made me reflect on my own friendships. Thank you for putting this together! So much good advice here - I wish I could restack everyone’s answers. Please tell your daughter she’s right about how to make friends (I love giving compliments!)
This made my heart so happy, on the heartiest (and sometimes hardest) of days. Today is all about love and I can’t think of a better expression than the love among friends, especially female friends. Thank you, Jen, for being my friend and compiling this gorgeous post filled with thoughtful reflections and advice on friendship from so many incredible women, many of whom I’ve also been lucky enough to meet as friends in the last year and many whom I admire from afar!
I mean- speechless. How many incredible pieces of advice and stories are here for the taking?! Jen you’re a master at collating only the best of the best with true heart. Adore this so so much and will be saving it to refer to time and time again! Happy VDay! ❤️
This is a beautiful compilation of view points Jen, such a wonderful idea. It was an honor to be a part of it, and agree with so many of the other sentiments here! Plus some new gems I will keep with me as life changes!!!! Love this for love day <3 xx
Ommmmm Gggggeeeeeee this is GOLD and my stupid job is keeping me from reading the whole thing but I can’t WAIT to carve out time to savor every word later… for now I will just say, you have no idea how much I LOVE Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett so the fact that pic is right under my blurb feels like you just sent me the biggest virtual affirmation / valentine EVER!!!!!
How to make friends at every age. I absolutely could not love this more. Your DAUGHTER! The best. Thank you, so much, for this gift and for including me in it.
I truly enjoyed reading this piece. Friendship is such a beautiful and sacred relationship. I truly wish genuine and pure friendships for every woman. Thank you for sharing and for including me in this beautiful post.
Ahhh! This was so beautiful. I’m so grateful for you for doing this. It’s such a beautiful reminder of how we all want friendship and companionship, AND it’s really hard for all of us and we’re all just trying our best. 😭❤️
Just like everyone else commenting, I'm getting emotional reading this as. I'm so glad you had this idea and what a fantastic group of women to chime in on this topic! Honored to have been included❤️
