I loved this! My 4th grade teacher, Mr Gates, was also my first man teacher and beloved for a lot of the same reasons. My mom was pregnant with my baby sister when I was in 4th grade, due in June, and Mr. Gates generously joined me in excitement and counting down the days to my new baby sister. She was born after the school year ended, but I wrote Mr Gates a letter that summer and shared my happy news. I'll never forget that he wrote me back. Some teachers, you know? They really can be the best by just being kind.
This was really beautiful. And maybe rather than hoping we put it all together and become outstanding we realize we are outstanding BECAUSE we are trying to put it together.
Also, your prediction…. I have it too. Am I entrenched in quiet luxury themes in my closet (yes) but am I also adding color and texture (hell yes). It’s too self-serving to say but I do think we are swinging away from minimalism but we might not make it to maximalism 😉
Your teacher’s words. And Clemence. And that thought you’re thinking. I am going to think that too. Thank you. And thank you for sharing. I think we keep putting it all together forever and maybe that’s what makes “outstanding” — trying authentically 💜

That is so sweet. Yes- I often wonder if good teachers really GET the impact that they have.
You ARE outstanding! …..and that haircut is 10/10….DO IT!
we have this haircut conversation/debate A LOT xoxoxox
My gosh, you’ve outdone yourself. Outstanding is certainly the right word. For you, for this, for what we still can achieve.
Girl- I just wanna be more like YOU when I grow up. 🤍
